New HDFS course celebrates diversity and inclusion with Special Olympics partnership
Lara Andrews, a Ph.D. student in HDFS, envisioned a course several years ago and finally saw it come to fruition during Fall 2015 with unbelievable results. Lara combined her coaching and sports experience with her HDFS knowledge to develop a course that combines sports skills and disability studies. HDFS 167: Special Olympics Relationship Experience (SORE) brought together enthusiastic UD students and Special Olympics athletes in a course designed to create relationships through soccer. The class will run for the second time in Spring 2016, and will eventually be a permanent HDFS course offering. To watch a video, and learn more about student experiences, read the UDaily article.
