UDaily article discusses collaborative teaching in ECE program
The Early Childhood Education (ECE) and Elementary Teacher Education programs were recently adapted to include a coteaching model of student teaching. Student teachers now work as partners with the classroom teachers, or clinical educators, building a dynamic work relationship. The partnership allows for collaborative lesson planning, frequent consultations about classroom activities, and constant support in the classroom as “teacher candidates” complete their final step to become a certified educator. UDaily recently highlighted this new student teaching practice, with comments from Dr. Jennifer Gallo-Fox and a recent ECE alumna discussing the benefits for teacher candidates and for the children.
